Supernatural

As you may or may not know by now Supernatural has just aired its tenth season. How can a show go that long? Well, obviously, it has to be pretty darn tootin awesome. And Supernatural is. It's a show everyone can get into because it's overflowing with multiple genres. Its action packed, thrilling, funny, dramatic, and much more.
It's the fighting with angels, ghosts, demons, Lucifer himself, and many more unimaginable things that give this show its action base. It can get gory at times, but it usually doesn't go over the top. The classic supernatural gore tends to have the camera pan away when someone gets murdered instead of showing the persons actual death scene and shows blood thrown on a wall or something instead.
It's those said creatures and gore that help give Supernatural a thrilling feeling. It can be pretty scary at times. It isn't only jump scares either, fear can run through an entire episode just because of what kind of monster the characters are dealing with. I tend to be at the edge of my seat, wondering if someone is going to die again.
Although hunting down monsters is the main plot for the first two seasons, it changes during  season three and begins to focus more on saving the world and dealing with character issues.
There are a lot of really funny moments in the episodes that are basically there just to slightly ease up on the tension. The more common, and usually the best, funny times are when there is a miscommunication between humans and angels. (Which usually happens when something pop culture is mentioned because angels don't keep up on that stuff.)
Supernatural does have a lot of drama in it throughout the whole entire show. It ranges from family drama to the end of the world drama, and includes everything in between.
The actors have really good chemistry as well, and it really appears throughout the show and helps make the on screen relationships that much better and realistic.
However, one thing I don't care for about the show, is how the writers don't allow any of the main characters a good, long love life that will last throughout the show. Don't get me wrong, characters have lots of relationships, but none of them last. The two most common reasons for them not working out is because either the characters love interest dies, or the character lets them go because 'they don't get to have a normal life'. Actually, generally all female characters get killed off, and it's something I wish would be changed.
With all of these things, Supernatural is one of my favorite shows. I love how no matter what the main characters go through, no matter how hard a situation can get, you know they'll figure out a way to fix things eventually.

Feminism

There is a lot of debate over feminism lately, so I'm just going to break it down for you based on my opinions.
Feminism is:
Women trying to get the same rights as a man.
Feminism isn't:
Women hating, and believing that they are better than men.
I personally believe that the time is way past due for a woman to have the same rights as a man.
However, saying that, some women aren't physically able to do some jobs, the same as some men aren't. Being drafted for a war, for example. No one in their right mind would let Steve Rogers go to war, just like no one in their right mind should say that all women need to go to war too. Sure, have women sign up for the draft on their eighteenth birthday, just like men. But it also must be taken into consideration that some women, just like some men, are not physically capable of doing some things.
Women don't need special treatment, but, I feel like there's still some word floating around, something pretty similar to common courtesy..... what was it again? It's something that for some reason people can be lacking in, just like with common courtesy. Oh, I know.
Chivalry. Men don't need to pay for every meal they go to when they are with a woman, but they also shouldn't flat out refuse to pay either. Let your girl pay for you sometimes, but don't forget to also grab the bill every once in a while too. Guys don't need to shove their way in front of a girl just to open the door for them, but if you're already there first, why wouldn't you just extend your arm and keep it open anyways? No matter what gender of person is behind you.
Now this is a big one for feminism you guys:
Rape culture.
I have been, and have friends that have been, sexually harassed by someone that doesn't know how to back off. #NotAllMen, right? Right. But definitely #YesAllWomen. I, and the vast majority of women, are quite well aware that not all men are creeps that don't understand that no means no. But, that doesn't mean that all women, at some point, haven't come across one.
Clothing has nothing to do with rape.
"She asked for it." No, actually. If a woman is raped, it means that in no way did she want "it". It doesn't matter if a man feels led on. It doesn't matter if she changed her mind half way through. No means no. If a woman doesn't want it, she doesn't want it.
Women that think they deserve more than men, are elitists. Not feminists.
Men that think they deserve more than woman, are elitists. Not an average guy that has every reason to stand up for his way of life.
Things need to change, and things are changing slowly. The only question is, are you going to be someone that helps change society for the better? Or are you going to be just another person holding it back.

Halloween

Halloween is great. Why? Well we might as well start with its origins.
I find History.com to be a pretty reliable resource, don't you?
Heres what they say about it:
and better yet they say it with cute little videos.
Halloween also comes with tons of cool traditions like dressing up, carving pumpkins , trick or treating, giving out candy, going to haunted houses, watching scary movies, and just getting downright spooky.
Picking the perfect costume. First off you should always try to dress up as something or someone you find interesting or funny or whatever, don't just go to the predictable cat costume Do you have a favorite tv show? Dress up as one of those characters. Don't have enough money to buy the costume? Make your own. Check out Goodwill, they usually have some stuff you could use.
Pumpkin carving is awesome. But you want to make sure you don't go to overboard so that no one actually understands what you are trying to portray. I find normal pumpkin faces to be pretty rad, and the best part is that you don't even need talent to make it
When giving out candy you should always also have a wide variety, so in case a kid is allergic to nuts or they just don't like kit-kats, they can take a pixie stick instead.
You are never, ever, ever, too old to go trick or treating. Ever. Especially if you're short. however some people don't always agree, so if you look older you might want to wear a mask. If you're a taller person and don't think even wearing a mask would help you pull off the middle schooler look, just take a kid with you. They get a bucket for candy, and you get a bucket too. I have tested this, and therefore know, if you have a little kid with you and you ask for candy as well, you will be given some.
The best way to get spooky with it and just get into the Halloween mood is by starting your own spooky traditions. Maybe you start helping a friend decorate their house, or spend a whole night going to different haunted houses, or go out costume shopping with friends. Whatever the tradition may be, make it fun. And don't forget to have a downright spooky Halloween!

#Selfies

r \WHEWMfe-SELflES\T'1 % WERE JUSTlT A called "NO ONE ELSE As WANTS TO m,TAKE nrI PICTURE,selfies, comics, funny comics & strips, cartoons, fowllanguagecomics
Selfies. So popular they are now a word in the Oxford Dictionary defined as "A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media."
But how did they even get started?
I think Selfies are popular mainly because when you post them people have the ability to like them or share them or comment on them to tell you how pretty you are. And who doesn't like being told that? No one. Especially not insecure teens that just need a little (or a lot) of reassurance that they are still pretty and popular.
They are also a way to get everyone in the picture at once without making some poor slightly less liked friend take the picture. And, when you have a front facing camera you can change or pose and decide what you think looks the best before ever even having to snap a picture.
Selfies are also a great way to show off your "good side". When being taken, the device snapping the picture tends to be at about forty-five degree angle from your face so you can look like you have a more defined jaw line
Like when eating candy, there is a point you get to where you need to take a step back and ask yourself, am I taking too many? Some signs of being an obsessive selfie taker are if:
1. Every time you go to Starbucks you have to post a picture on instragram.
2. Every time you casually hang out with your friends you have to take at least ten Selfies with them, just to document the experience.
3. You post at least one selfie on instragram every day like it is your religion
4. If not enough people like your selfie on Facebook, you have to take it down and take a new one.
If any other these sound like you, you might want to try thinking before you snap that picture "Why am I taking this?" Is it just because you look good? Is it because you want attention? Why?
Then if you come up with a reason that you decide is plausible, go ahead and take that selfie, because you look hella fabulous anyway.

Why Art Should Never be Underrated

You should never, ever, ever, look at any art and say 'wow that's stupid' or dumb or anything like that. Want to know why? It's because there's a lot of things that go into every piece of art that makes it just the way it is. And if an artist is showing it to you, which means they're most likely happy with the way it turned out and therefore proud of it.
Art is always amazing because there are a lot of factors that go into making a piece of artwork. The main ones are picking one of many different types and styles of art and going from there. Then the artist must decide how much detail there should be and how real it should look, they usually want it to speak to the viewer on many levels, just like the way a well worded poem might. And they also have to spend a large amount of time and effort on just one piece.

There are many different types or art, and an uncountable amount of styles within every single type.
Sculptures are pretty extremely cool, because they can be made with any material imaginable. Clay, however, is the most common. Like with this cute little dragon:

http://www.deviantart.com/art/dragon-sculpture-painted-348361432 )
Or this cuter, tinier, little hawk.

Even though clay models are adorable and awesome, sculptures made from other materials can be hella rad too. Like this metal lion:

Another type of art are paintings. My personal favorites tend to be oil paintings like this one:

Mainly because they can be super realistic and can express tons of different things. ( Most of the pictures I post as examples are mainly going to be oil paintings because I play favorites like that.)
Another style is sketching. You could use your pencil, or charcoal, or whatever. This picture was drawn in charcoal:
Doctor Who Tardis in charcoal by jacqui-kate
( http://jacqui-kate.deviantart.com/art/Doctor-Who-Tardis-in-charcoal-216255112 )
There's also a new way to make art and that is on thee computer. This is a super cool example of that:

This picture is a good example of how real a drawing can look. The shading, wrinkles, unorganized hair, cheekbones, pores, and missing teeth, all add to it.

Artists can put days and even months worth of time into just one piece of artwork.

Art can emotionally speak to you. With the right captain or description, an artworks' meaning can hit you really hard. Like this picture.
When you look at this picture try to really take it in before reading further.
Whatever Turns You On - oil painting by borda

Kind of extremely weird right?

The caption is "Whatever Turns You On". Now look at it again.
Is it even the same piece of artwork to you? It changed to me. Her nose is as small as it can be, which tends to be the wanted look. Her lips are huge, glossy and glittered. The way most people seem to find attractive. Her teeth are perfectly straight and white. Her eyes are large with an ample amount of makeup on them. Her eyes are a very pretty blue, green color. She has seductress, bouncy dark red hair. She has light blush spots on her cheekbones. Her fingernails are long and manicured, with a golden ring on her right hand wedding finger. She has a chain of pearls in her mouth, which apparently some men somehow find hot. Now look at the extremely obvious. Makeup covered tears streaming down her face. Now take another look closer. She has a small band aid at the top of her cheek. Not so subtly indicating some kind of physical abuse. Now look into her eyes. Can you see the man reflected in them? Can you imagine what is happening? It's not hard to piece together. Most of you will probably still think it's weird but I find that it has so much meaning packed into it, the 'weirdness' really isn't that weird.
It also takes artists an incredible amount of time to make their art. First they have to find all of the perfect material for the project they're working on, like the frame, the canvas or whatever they decide to put it on, the paint or charcoal or clay for actually making it and so on. That usually takes a while to find and so they have to put a lot of time in even before they start to make it.
PS- If you didn't notice I use many Deviantart for finding artwork. That's because it's a free site where people can buy and sell art and it's a really great site over all so check it out!

Why Everyone Should Learn From Kid President

By now you have probably seen a few videos, or hopefully at least heard of, Kid President. So far he has met President Obama, Beyoncé, Ellen, and a lot of other famous people. He's just a cute kid that makes videos right?
Wrong.
He's a lot more then that. He's an inspiration to be a better person, to keep a good attitude even when things are tough, and, of course, to always dance.
Kid President has Osteogenesis Imperfecta which is also known as Brittle Bone disease.
(More Information about OI here: http://www.oif.org/site/PageServer )
The most recent number on the media of Kid President's broken bones and surgeries were 50 and 13. And yet he still has an infectious smile and positive message on all of his videos.
Kid president also gives great quotes to live by. Some of my favorites are "You can't be sad when you're holding a cupcake" and "What if there were really two paths? I'd want to go down the path that leads to awesome." I mean come on people. It doesn't get much better then that.
Also Kid President is like ten years old. What were you doing when you were ten? I'm pretty sure at that point I still thought I was the coolest kid around, always wanted presents, and sung way too much considering I have always been tone deaf. Instead of doing that, this kid is going through hard stuff, like breaking bones, and yet he still has the time and spirit to inspire the world. He's ten you guys! That's crazy!
Another thing is he is confident and doesn't let anyone else get him down. Which is something I personally look up to. Like in the video of him cat caroling. Most of the time people gave them weird looks. And once a guy didn't even look up or smile or give any sort of reaction to it. At that point I would have trailed off awkwardly and walked away and my face would have been so red I would have looked sun burnt.
He doesn't let his fears stop him. The one thing he said he was afraid of was talking to girls so he made a video of himself calling one and showed everyone he could overcome what he was scared of. By doing that he shows you that you can too.
His video are made to help you realize how to make the world, and sometimes even yourself, better.

Procrastination

As you may or may not have noticed by now I am an expert on procrastination. It's Sunday night, I have two more blog posts to go (in other words 785 more words to type, or well, 748 now) and hours of other homework left. And yet I still can't seem to make myself close that Tumblr tab at the top of this page. Can you relate? If you're a teenager, I'm just going to make a safe assumption that you can. Actually, I'm just going to assume that everyone can, because we're all human, and nobody really truly wants to do things they aren't one hundred percent into. And if you do it anyway, well then my friend, you need a Tumblr. Go sort out those priorities.
Back to the topic. Procrastination. How to stop it, to be more specific. To be honest, I don't really know. I'm pretty sure the first step is making yourself aware of the fact that you have a problem. Say it with me now: "I (insert name here), am a procrastinator". Good. First step down. This isn't so bad now is it?
Second step. One of the hardest parts about procrastination is just getting started on what you're supposed to be doing. You know you're supposed to be doing it. You know you're running out of time to do it. But it's just so gosh darn diddly hard to make yourself actually have enough motivation to get up out of that comfy bed, or stop watching that TV show you love (even though you really, really, need to catch up before your online friends can no longer take it and spoil the whole entire thing for you), and just do it.

This adorable little kitten is begging you to just get up and do your work. Because you know you're supposed to. If you can say no to this kitten you are too far gone to be saved. I'm sorry. Rest In Peace my friend. One day you might do what needs to be done. But today is not that day.
Third step. If you really need an energy boost, caffeine is probably your go to booster. At least, it is for just about every single person I know. But did you know that there are a lot of things much better for you that get you to wake up quicker? For example:
http://www.oddee.com/item_98510.aspx
I personally wouldn't chose exercise though, because it mainly makes me just want to lay down, stare at the ceiling and question my life choices. However, I am quite aware that most people out there are a lot healthier then I am so if it works, good for you bro. Also the night before option isn't my favorite, especially when you need to wake up now, and you had to stay up then. (Actually, that site was the one I chose because even though it does have good alternatives to coffee it's pictures are by far the best and I'm all for graphics)
Fourth step. I'm thinking it's probably figuring out how to eliminate all other things you do while working on your stuff, which is why it takes you about an hour to do the dishes. (That's right. I know you weren't just doing the dishes.) However, let's not be unrealistic. I am completely aware that even though my sister is yelling at me that she still needs to do her blog, I'm still not going to close out of that Tumblr tab, and even if I did, I know I would get on it right after I finished typing this post. Just like I'm sure, if texting was your way to procrastinate, and you put your phone in another room, you would take roughly fifty breaks while working to go check it. So let's take baby steps. Give yourself a small goal. My goal would be writing a hundred words or so at a time before a take a five minute (and five minute only, I swear) break to go rewatch that gif of the adorable baby duck swimming around in a kitchen sink. Your goal could be sitting down and working on whatever it is you are supposed to be doing right now instead of surfing the web, and working for half an hour or so. Or whatever time amount you find realistic.
Fifth step. Leave! Go! Get off this page! Like right now! Come on man, what are you still doing here? Haven't I given you enough motivation and help? What more do you need?
Tell you what, if you go do what you should have been doing this whole time, then come back to this post and shoot me a comment, I'll give you a cookie. And, just to clear the air since I'm a teenager and it happens sometimes, I also promise those cookies will be drug, spit, and whatever else you might be afraid of, free. :)

Snacking

Do you emotionally connect to this woman? If so, good. I'm glad we have something in common. Except for the difference between me and her is that her fridge is completely filled with veggies while mine has exactly two.
How do bad snacking habits have to do with pop culture you may be wondering? Well I figure that everyone snacks right? So it's popular. And America is generally stereotyped as being overweight, and I'm American, so therefore it is my culture. Ta da!
To give an example of bad snacking, I just made myself some cookie dough to trudge through the next five hours or so of homework instead of eating an apple or something that would actually give me energy. So yes, I am being slightly hypocritical sitting here, munching on my chocolate supreme cookie dough but c'est la vie.
Anywhos whenever I'm randomly feeling the need to lie to myself and pretend that I'm healthy my personal go to snacks are smoothies. Although I guess they're really more of a beverage? I'm not quite sure.
Moving on.
This is the recipe I normally use:
http://strawberrybananasmoothierecipes.org/
Mainly because it's quick and easy, which is good since I'm a pretty horrible food maker, but also because it tastes good. (Although I make it slightly less healthy and slightly (a lot) better tasting by adding a good amount of sugar.) If you're into smoothies like me then here's another site that might interest you:
http://allrecipes.com/recipes/drinks/smoothies/
However I can't really guarantee how good for you all of them are.
Like a large amount of people I know my favorite fruit happens to be strawberries. And, even better, is that they are hella good for you. Don't believe me? Check it out:
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=32
Chocolate strawberries are my favorite and surprisingly, even when covered in something usually seen as not the healthiest, they're still pretty darn tootin good for you. As seen here:
http://www.yummly.com/recipes/healthy-strawberry-snacks
I have also tried the frozen fruit pops from this site and those were pretty rad.
I'm sure most people, including myself, sometimes have a random urge some random day to lose weight (I don't know, maybe I'm the only one.) Well apparently, there are foods to help with that.
http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20682477,00.html
As seen in the link above, there are some snacks that seemingly taste good and can be good for you. Some of those honestly look just a teensy bit weird to me but hey, it's always fun to try new foods.
Good luck on your quest to being healthier!

Why Tumblr is Awesome

The best thing I find about Tumblr is that it can't really be defined in a few simple words. Tell Google to define it and you'll get a bunch of blah about how it's a blogging site where you can follow others' blogs and post multimedia. But it's so much more than that.
Tumblr is a place where you can feel completely free to express yourself. Obsessed with something most of your friends know nothing about? You're guaranteed to find Tumblr friends that love it just as embarrassingly much, if not more so. Love a TV show? Well have you ever heard of the word fandoms? Cause you're already in one. Do you ever feel like no one really understands what you are going through? Well with Tumblr I don't even think that's possible. Everyone has slightly different circumstances but in the end it comes down to the same thing.
However if you don't have an open mind to things like gay marriage, feminism, and so on, Tumblr is probably not the place for you. People are generally pretty open to oversharing on Tumblr so it's quite expected to find out things on a daily basis that you probably didn't want to know about. There are arguments on Tumblr just like there are on Facebook but generally a lot more people see them and then feel free to send you a response what he think about it as well even if the post is like two years old and you thought it died and was done with. However, Tumblr isn't just another site to start drama on, you can also learn a lot of things that otherwise you would have never known about.
My second favorite thing about Tumblr is that it has its own language that is special to the site that people not on it might not really understand. I'm really not sure how to explain most of it but here's a site that has a few 'words':
http://www.dailydot.com/society/sincere-guide-tumblr-slang/
I enjoy the slang words even though when you use them around friends that don't Tumblr, you will encounter an awkward situation of trying to figure out how to explain what you mean. Sometimes it's like trying to explain the word 'to'. It's ridiculously hard.
Sadly though, Tumblr is cannot be perfect. Nothing in the world can be. Sometimes people do get bullied by other people. But with one person that is mean or hateful, a hundred or so other supportive people or there to help outweigh it. Still, I would like to say again that Tumblr is not for everyone.

Interested but not sure how to start a blog? Here's a site to help:

Why DIYs Are Gr8

Do It Yourself projects, or DIYs, have been really common and popular on Pinterest, I believe, ever since the site was first made. But why is that, you may ask? Well it's simple.
The first reason for them being popular is because they are usually cheaper to make then to go on Etsy and buy. Although the ones sold there always seem to be so much cuter and better done then my own. Like these for example:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/194880908/no-tangle-crochet-earphones?ref=sr_gallery_30&ga_search_query=cute+earphones&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_ref=related&ga_page=1&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery
The second reason is that they are fun to make, whether it be by yourself or with some friends. Like when you were little and made those huge beaded bracelets. Except now, you make them with much smaller beads that are practically impossible to put on the band and end up falling on the floor and getting lost for all eternity because you know even without looking that you will never find them all.
Thirdly is that they can be as big or as small of a project as you want. If you are looking for something huge that will keep you occupied for a month or so you can find some sort of workshop one. Or if you just want a small five minute one, they have those too. I've seen ones where all you do is get a stencil and spray paint some designs onto old furniture.
DIYs also make it fun to spice up your old stuff. Having a hard time trying to rock those boring old headphones but don't want to go buy those cool expensive ones that you know will break within the month? No need! Change it up with some yarn like so:
Its an easy way to show off those mad skillz you didn't even know you were hiding.
And my favorite part (and probably the part that I use most often) is that if you try, try, and try again and you still just have absolutely no idea how to make it look like it's supposed to, it's no biggie if you give up. Those earphones are still hella cute even though they are halfway done. So when reality hits you hard in the face like so:

Just take a pic so you can laugh at it later, eat those delicious looking cookies, and move on.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Everyone has heard about the Ice Bucket challenge. You might have seen one of the thousands of funny videos all over YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Vine, and well, you get the point. (My personal favorite is Rob Pattinson's. This is a link to it in case you're interested:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3y6dJr2hYA )
Anyway, there are no technical rules of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it's mainly just to raise awareness and money for the cause. The three main parts of it are donating, pouring ice water over your head, and nominating three other people. I have heard multiple versions of rules though. Like, if you don't want to donate you pour ice over your head. Or if you don't take the challenge twenty four hours after you were nominated, then you're supposed to donate. And I've also heard that if you take the challenge then you can just donate ten dollars, but if you don't want to take the challenge then you donate one hundred dollars instead. There's all kinds of different variations of the challenge. However, the one I like best is where you just do the challenge, if you want too, nominate friends, and donate whatever you can afford.
Which leads to the next important part of this post. The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association. More commonly known as ALSA. It funds research for the cure of ALS. It has a lot of different programs around the U.S. and has, as of September thirteenth, raised 112.4 million dollars. If you have any questions about it, or the money that you donate here is a link to the site, which answered any and all questions I had about it:

I personally enjoy watching my friends and favorite stars take the challenge and I had fun taking it myself. Yet the main point of it is really to donate to fund research that will help cure people that have ALS. I think that if you don't donate it's just not worth anything to anyone. The whole point of the challenge is to draw attention to ALS, not to draw attention to your very white, and wet, shirt. It's not hard to donate, they have a big red button on the site. And if you want to make sure one hundred percent of your donation goes straight to research then there's a box on the form you fill out that you can check to let the association know what you wish to have done with your donation.
